Here in Buffalo, NY we are getting slammed with snow 🥶🥶! There has even been some travel bans and a state of emergency has been declared. With all this snowy madness going on, it reminds me of the time a couple of strangers showed me so much compassion.
So a couple years ago while driving home I hit a patch of black ice and swerved into a ditch. There was no way I could get out by myself and I was alone and scared. People pulled over and asked if I was ok, but honestly there was nothing that they could do to help me. I was in the phone with my husband who was my boyfriend at the time. He’s about 30 min away but with all of the snow probably like a hour away and his car at the time was definitely not built for the snow, so honestly I was thinking, “he’s never going to be able to make it here”. So while we are trying to figure things out, two young men pull up in this big ass pick up truck and asked if I was OK, they told me that they were going to go home and grab some supplies to help to get me out of the ditch. They said that a tow truck would cost me and they didn’t want me having to go through that hassle.
I honestly didn’t think they were coming back and was thinking of my next plan. Then I see these bright lights and I’m thinking “oh shit, They came back!” Then my husband/boyfriend pulls up as well. I don’t know how he made it in that little Hyundai genesis coupe but he did. The gentlemen hooked me up to their truck and after some maneuvering they pulled me out!
I couldn’t believe that they stopped what they were doing and helped me. I never would’ve imagined that type of kindness coming from people who didn’t know me. I was so grateful and thanked them many times and most importantly I made it home safe.
I think about them all the time especially when it’s snowing outside and their kindness still brings a smile to my face.
Hopefully this post inspires you to be kind to others. “Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give”.
Thanks for stopping by!
With love, as always,
